This truck has been gone for years, so please excuse the photo quality

What is it? 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L V6, 4WD, regular cab, long box, with manual locks, manual mirrors, manual seats, manual windows, but not a manual transmission. The Vortec V6 made around 200 HP and 260 ft.lbs of torque, which was respectable enough to get the job done without any fun.

Pros: Snow is no issue; exterior styling has aged well; tasteful exhaust note in stock form; thunderous exhaust note (for a V6) in modified form

Cons: Hard top tonneau covers are stupid; seating is a problem if you know more than one person; hands-down the most unreliable vehicle I’ve ever owned

Recommendation: Not at all recommended, at least in this configuration. 0.5 out of 5 stars. Many people swear by the Vortec family of engines, but this truck is the reason that I will never consider buying another. Nor will I ever buy the first year of a new model generation. A standard cab/long box truck is really only used as a fleet vehicle or by old, creepy men who will put a mismatched color topper on the back.
